Another look at an old friend of mine.

Before the end of the year I wanted to take another look back at a great car I once had...

My good old Mr2 Turbo, I absolutely loved this car :D

To give it its full name, it was a Mr2 Mk2 Rev3 Turbo, quite a title!
I fell in love with this car the day I went up to see it in Bradford, a 5 hour trip which was definitely worth the effort! The color blew me away, I had to have it!

It was my first Japanese car, and I bought it when I was 19.

It was also quite a considerable jump in power from my old SEAT 1.9TDI FR130bhp to this..... at the time that I bought it, the Mr2 was running standard bhp for a Rev3, which is around 250bhp.

I'll be honest with you and tell you that I was afraid of what this car could do for a long time, and it wasn't until I took it on track and realised its potential and limits that I wasn't afraid anymore :)

The handling on these, well on a well setup one is no worse than any other car I've driven, as long as you know how to drive it properly, no excessive power changes mid corner, and if you go in fast, keep the power constant and you'll be fine, their reputation for being bad handling cars I feel is due to bad drivers getting their hands on one ;)

The owned this car for four years, attended so many shows with it, did multiple road trips, and a few track days, and it never ever let me down! Oh and including a session at the Nurburgring ;)

The only things that broke, broke because of old age, never through misuse, a credit to the car! Well the cambelt went one late night on a dual carriage way, but I can't hold that against it ;) also I have to sing its praises for that as its a non interference engine so therefore a snapped cambelt doesn't mean broken engine :)

After years of ownership, the mod list was pretty extensive too, it ended up with various additions, boost controller, exhaust system, charge cooler setup, plenty of gauges to monitor it all, a set of white staggered TE37 Volk Racing wheels, and one of my favourite changes to the car was its interior, that received a full retrim to match the outside :)

The power output ended up being... well I'll let the dyno sheet show you :)

A fantastic car that was a joy to own and look after, I will miss it but as you know by now following my blog, I've replaced it with something that I feel is going to be pure awesome to live with and enjoy :)

Thank you for looking!

I also shoot bikes...

I'm often seen out doing photos of cars, I say often, I mean I'll be honest here and say that its pretty much all I shoot :)
But I am also a big fan of anything fast with a combustion engine, so therefore I naturally enjoy motorbikes too :D

I have never actually really wanted to ride one, or even be a passenger on one, but at the same time I still respect and admire them for what they are.

I have been lucky enough to have done a couple of bike shoots in the last few years, examples of which are these two bikes in this post.

The blue and white bike you see in this blog post is a Suzuki GSXR, and the red one is a Yamaha YZF, both very impressive machines, and were loads of fun to take pictures of.

I really enjoyed picking out some of the details on these machines that make them stand out from their competition, the fact that everything is very much on show on a bike is always very exciting to see and help in the planning of angles and shots.

I really enjoyed putting together some rolling shots for the owner of the Yamaha, and some selective colouring and black and white ones of the Suzuki.

Hoping that 2011 will bring some more bike shoots, as their details, curves and general stance is awesome to take pictures of!

Until then thank you for looking and I'll leave you with what I still feel is my personal favourite motorbike shot so far :)

Mans best friend...

These next few photos are all the work of my little brother Gavin Fegent, he's a fantastic photographer with a brilliant eye for perfection and detail, seriously worth checking out his work on his flickr, which can be found here.

I was looking through my brothers work the other day, and I absolutely love all of it, but for me some of his stuff really stands out, and it involves his best model, yep thats right its their dog Bruno :)

This gorgeous dog of theirs is quite frankly one of the nicest pooches I have ever met, he is so beautiful in every way, and so obedient, its incredible really!

He actually came to live with my brothers out of pure chance, he was about to be put down as the family that had him couldn't cope with a dog anymore and no one wanted him, luckily a conversation was overheard in a shop by my mum, and a few hours later Bruno was theirs, very awesome :)

Wooooooooohooooo!

So anyway I wanted to take this opportunity to show of my brothers fantastic photography skills, and show of a true example of mans best friend :)

Thank you for looking!

The Angel

The Angel, originally uploaded by Dan Fegent.

Before Christmas I apologised in one of my blog posts for not having any festive related pictures, well I've done a whole bunch to rectify that problem :D

This one is with the help of one of my mums ornaments and some pretty Christmas Tree Bokeh :)

"This little Angel means a lot to my mum, and I felt that focusing on it in this way would be a good attempt at doing it justice for her.

I've taken a selection of shots of this Angel in front of the tree, with variations to the colour of the Bokeh, each one even though they are similar seem worlds apart due to the colour controlling the overall mood of the photo."

The rest of the festive shots I capture over Christmas can be seen here on my flickr :)

Christmas present to myself...

I lost my last weekend/toy car back in June at the Nurburgring, as followers of my blog will know it died an untimely death at the Nurburgring, but you move on and at last I have moved on and replaced it...

With a Nissan Skyline R32 GTST.

I finally found one, after so many months of looking around for one to grab me, and make me want to spend my cash, I finally have one!

Also before I begin talking you all to sleep about it, I need to shout out to the guys on Twitter who guessed what my new car was, fairplay lads :)

Right also a BIG thank you to all the local Skyline members that I have annoyed during my hunt hehe, your help has been nothing but appreciated.

Anyway when I own a car I usually run articles on my blog to keep what I'm doing to it in order and show all of you, hopefully it will be of some interest :)

So I'll start at the beginning with a few pictures from its for sale ad.

So there you have it, those are the pictures that enticed me to go view this car :)

Deep down I've been after an R32 since the beginning, I thought to myself well if your looking for an example of one of the greatest Japanese cars ever made... well you may as well start as near to the beginning as you can hehe.

So its classic lines sold it to me, and I was lucky as this one in question was in very good condition for its age, so taken from the for sale ad, here are the details:

1992 J Reg KLO Silver GTS-T Type M, imported 5 years ago.
111K kms, still reads in KM and is still limited.
RB20DET engine.

Blitz Air Filter
HKS SSQV
Turbo Elbow Back HKS Exhaust system, heat wrapped and centre box taken out.

Grooved front discs with Ferodo pads on front and greenstuff on rear.
Hicas Lock out bar.
Diff recently shimmed
Freshly refurbished R32 GTR Wheels with Toyo R888 tyres
KYB SR shocks and springs
Walbro fuel pump
Greddy Profect B2
Running a safe and easy 275bhp with Dyno sheet.
Nismo Dash clocks, dash in very good condition with hardly any rattles.
GTR bonnet and boot fitted as well as GTR front grill colour coded to rest of car.
Just recently been undersealed once again.

Anyway that's the spec so far.

So I went for it... brought it back home on the 16th, the day before my area was hit by snow.

Some extremely invaluable reading literature that came with the car.

The first night, view from my window :)

So here comes the snow photos....

The amount of paperwork this came with is so reassuring, and its been very well looked after in the past! A credit to the two previous UK owners that came before me.

I haven't got many full body pictures of it yet, but I have some up close and personal macro ones, so I'll leave you with those for the minute.

Items I need to buy for it include a Cambelt kit and tensioners + water pump.

Items I would like include are an R32 GTR interior just to update the interior a bit, and I'd like to find it a new stereo, this doesn't have one and as much as it makes an awesome noise, I would like some music again.

And so far I've simply bought a nice snug fitted cover for it to hide away during these months.

I have to say though, I've only driven it from the Reading area to Swindon (about 40miles to my non UK readers) and back for Christmas and I already love this thing, its awesome.

Anyway here are a few more pictures of her from the first few days, all iphone ones though so I apologise for quality, I'll take my camera gear to it soon ;)

The only full body shot of it taken in my ownership, showing off my little run around in the background too, love that Aygo.

And then now its all wrapped up to keep the weather away.

Plans with this are mainly to keep looking as it does, maintain and enjoy it, I've wanted one for soooooooo long, and now I have one, dream come true really.

Thank you to all my friends from the Skyline Owners club that have helped me find one to suit me over the last few months, all your help, advise and knowledge has been invaluable, thank you, you know who you all are.

Been messing around with it today, tried a friends stereo in it and all the speakers work, so I'm chuffed about that :) and done some messing around with my camera and a glide track system my bros has built me :) video to follow!

Right that's it for now... much more to follow.
